Well, we recently were lucky enough to be able to lob a few questions her way!

Initially, you started blogging primarily about nails before you eventually delved into other arenas. What is your all-time favorite nail look?

I love anything obnoxious and eye-catching so I’m happiest when my nails are long, pointy and as bright as possible. Throw in some glitter and I’ll be over the moon! My favorite recent nail look is this pizza nail art: it’s so cute and fun. Beauty doesn’t have to be serious!

Why beauty?

I first became interested in make up because I developed rosacea and wanted to learn how to use products properly so I could cover my skin. But, although I started using make up as a necessity to help me feel more confident, I soon fell in love with it. I get so much happiness from trying out products and I love it when a reader discovers a new favourite product from my blog. Writing about beauty is so much fun and a great way to be creative in every day life.

You are something of a skincare guru! Any "aha" moments on this front?

My sensitive skin will be eternally grateful to me for discovering cleansing oils for removing make up: it’s really gentle and dissolves even waterproof make up so easily so I don’t have to aggravate my skin by rubbing my eyes. I also swear by facial sprays—like the Avène Thermal Water Spray—and use them for everything: to refresh my make up, cool my skin on flights, the beach, on public transport. I always have a mini can in my bag!

How has dealing with rosacea impacted the way you view (or utilize) beauty buys?

I’m definitely more picky now. I have wasted so much money and time on products that either do nothing for me or are terrible for my skin. I’ve learnt to read ingredient lists, to study the claims that brands make and to be a bit more cynical about the ways in which things are marketed.

What is your definition of happiness?

A day wandering around London with my husband: sometimes being a tourist in your own city is the most fun you can have.

Anything else you'd like to add?

If you have rosacea or sensitive/reactive skin, come and say hi—I love to meet people and natter about skincare, make up and everything else under the sun. Also, if you’re a fan of unusual make up looks, check out my #UnwearableLex series on Instagram where I try out eye-catching beauty looks.
