An Introduction To An Asian Beauty Routine: Part 2

I recently outlined the basic steps of an Asian beauty routine and now I'm back to go over my daytime routine!

You may have a few questions right now, like:

·         What’s the difference between a day and night routine?

·         What’s the benefit of having different routines?

·         Why should I have two different routines in the first place?

To answer the first question, it’s more than a simple change in moisturizer or cleanser. In the day, the major difference in the routine lies in the amount of protection you apply to your skin. These can be in the form of sunscreens or BB creams.

At night, it’s best to use certain products like night creams, sleeping packs and certain ampoules and serums because your skin can absorb these products more effectively overnight. Your face will be free of makeup at this time and when you wake up, your skin will be fresh, supple and rejuvenated!

As I've mentioned before, the benefit of having two different routines each routine covers different aspects of skin care. These include sun protection, moisturizing or hydrating products, damage repair, and many others, depending on your product lineup. Having different routines allows you to treat as many problem areas as you can; whether it’s acne, oiliness, or wrinkles while protecting your skin.

The most important thing to know about having two different routines is that there are some products that better to be used during one routine. For example, AHA and BHA (chemical exfoliators) are best used during your night routine – this is because they make your face photosensitive.

Then, during your day routine, you would protect your face with sunscreen.   That being said, there are some people who do use AHA and BHA during the day, so it’s really up to your routine. But that’s not the only reason.  Remember what I said about making sure your products work together? Yup – some products just won’t mesh well with one another if you pick them at random or if you don’t layer them correctly.

It sounds complicated, but it’s actually pretty simple once you know what you’re looking for. So, get rid of your boring skincare routine and create one that’s customized just for you!
