DIY Lip Scrubs: 4 Tutorials To Press Play On

DIY Lip Scrubs: 4 Tutorials To Press Play On

If you haven’t discovered the magic that is the lip scrub, you truly need to.

And yes, a lot of companies sell them, but who wants to pay ten bucks or more for a tiny jar of something you could easily make yourself?!

The basics of any DIY lip scrub are: get some kind of sugar, some kind of oil and something for flavor (lemon, vanilla, etc.), mix it all together and, voila, lip scrub. But where’s the fun in that? Below are four noteworthy tutorials that show you how to make more inspired versions of these babies at home.

1. Ela Gale’s Lip Scrub/Balm Duo

There are so many great things about Ela’s tutorial, from her explanation about the anti-aging properties of vanilla, to her idea to use dried raspberries from a cereal box, to the adorable contact lens container she puts the duo in, to the idea of the duo itself—it’s all genius.

2. Spankie Valentine TV’s Rainbow and Confetti Lip Scrubs

The recipe is basic, but the colors are not. If you want your lips to have “baby booty” status and your scrub to look like it was blessed with the breath of a unicorn, Spankie’s your girl.

3. ModaMob’s Margarita Lip Scrub

Will it make your lips soft? Yes. Will it take you back to that summer in Cancun? Yes. Does it actually contain alcohol? Nope. This scrub’s a virgin. Still delicious, though!

4. Sonal Sagaraya’s Travel-Friendly Lip Scrub

This project is for those with a bit more time on their hands, but it’s super worth it—in the end, you can carry around your lip scrub in a chapstick container and it’s not messy like a normal scrub because Sonal brilliantly adds a bit of beeswax to hold the mixture together.

Scrub away, but, you know, gently.
