Double-Washing: The Best Skincare Habit Ever

Maintaining a healthy facial routine is crucial (Jamelia was fond of saying this too). Getting in the groove of washing our faces, using lotions and creams and taking off our makeup are all major factors in whether or not our skin looks its best.

Throughout my middle school and high school days, I learned about skin care and how important it is to remove our makeup at the end of the day, especially before going to sleep. Fight the yawns and do it anyway because when we sleep, that is when our skin regenerates itself. Neglecting your face and sleeping with makeup on clogs the pores, making them unable to breath and restore. Which can ultimately lead to breakouts—no thanks!

My favorite skin care tip for removing makeup is to note that one wash is not enough. Washing your face once then going to sleep is simply not the right way to wash your face. The first wash is to remove makeup and the second wash is for deep cleaning and properly cleaning the skin. Without the second wash, our faces do not get fully cleansed!

While makeup wipes seem like an easy solution for cleaning our faces, they cannot be used on their own as they only clean the surface. Wipes are okay to use if they are followed up with a wash after the fact though!

Washing our faces to remove makeup is by far the best advice I have ever received. But, taking the right steps to washing is what can make or break a cleanse. Washing our faces before bed, double-cleansing and pairing wipes with a wash is exactly what it takes to have clear skin. While these steps may seem tedious, they are worth it to see awesome results in your skin and confidence!
