Fall Leaves: An Inspired Autumnal DIY Nail Look

Fall Leaves: An Inspired Autumnal DIY Nail Look

My favorite time of year is almost here! The past few weeks I’ve been obsessed with getting ready for fall.  Fall clothes, fall drinks, fall holidays; I’m a huge fan of anything and everything fall (including, of course, the makeup).

In preparation, I’ve come up with a DIY fall leaves inspired nail tutorial with reds, oranges and gold. The four colors that I’ll be using are butter LONDON's “Chancer”, OPI's “Reflection” and “Rising Star” and Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Vernis in "Golden-I".

Step 1: Apply A Base Coat

You can do this with any colors that you’d like, but since this is a fall leaves inspired tutorial, I’m going to use "Reflection”, which is a dark pink-y color with orange sparkles as my base coat for this look. Apply two coats so that it’s super opaque.

Step 2: Use a Bobby Pin to Make “Leaves”

Put a dollop of nail polish on a piece of paper, dip the end of the bobby pin into the polish and make little vertical lines on the nail. (They don’t need to be perfect or uniform) I started with “Chancer”, but you can start with any of the colors as long as you do one at a time.

Step 3: Repeat With Remaining Colors

I painted on two more colors, “Rising Star” and “Golden-I”, using the same technique to create more vertical lines.

Once you’re finished, you can apply a clear top coat to make the nails extra sparkly and shiny! After you’ve done that, give them plenty of time to dry and you’re all set to go out in the crisp (almost) fall weather!
