Get Golden: Stratia Liquid Gold
My first impression of this was, “Wow. This is yellow. Like really, really yellow. Kind of looks like mustard... oh, thank God it doesn’t smell like mustard!” On the bottle it breaks down the product even further. This moisturizer is formulated with ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids; which to some sounds like a bunch of skincare jargon. Here’s a breakdown of what this all means:
Skin affects water movement, so using a product that has this combination of ingredients allows the skin to retain moisture and replenish itself more effectively. Our skin is composed of 50% ceramides, 25% cholesterol and 15% free fatty acids; so basically, this moisturizer gives our skin what it needs to repair itself and reveal more radiant skin.
Now onto the review!
I recently moved to California! Before that I was traveling for about 2 weeks straight and my summer of clean eating mostly went out the window so my skin WAS. NOT. HAPPY. I had breakouts, my skin was starting to get dry patches again and just looked dull and felt rough and tight. As I have mentioned before, I have sensitive combination skin with the occasional breakout usually only around “that time of the month” and some hyper-pigmentation.
After giving my skin some time to return to its mostly regular self, I decided to bite the bullet and test this out. Because I wasn’t sure how it would react with my night serum, I did the bare minimum in my nighttime skincare routine; simply washed my face with my daily cleanser, applied an astringent to help clear up my acne faster and applied a generous layer of this moisturizer.
I expected this moisturizer to be heavier than what it was, but it actually almost reminded me of a serum. It absorbed very quickly and I finished getting ready for bed. And no, it did not leave my skin looking yellow.
When morning finally rolled around, my skin was really smooth. I can usually gauge the effectiveness of any moisturizing product by how the area around my mouth looks and feels because that is the driest part of my face—and, to my surprise, both of these areas were supple and sleek.
For the second part of my test, I applied a thinner layer than the night before under my makeup and followed with primer and the rest of my usual routine and it stayed all day without sliding around my face.
That same night, I used my Clarisonic to wash my face and followed with the liquid gold and it was the best decision I could have ever made. In my opinion, the ideal time to use this would be night time, simply because I like the feel of a gel on my face during the day a little more.
I have to say that this moisturizer is a new favorite of mine. For a ton more details on this moisturizer, I would definitely head over to this hyper-hip brand's site (because there is seriously plenty of info to peruse).
Another review from yours truly will be up soon. In the meantime though, let's talk.
