Hello 2017: 3 On-The-Rise Beauty Trends
Though we so enjoy reveling in the glorious-ness of past trends—and current-day iterations of back-in-the-day looks, for that matter—the time has come for us to shift our focus to up-and-coming ones instead.
Best be prepared...2017 is gearing up to be a wild ride.
1. The Half-Bun
Regrettably sometimes called a "hun" (a half-bun, presumably), this hairdo has been around for quite some time, BUT it only just recently started to pop up on everyonnnnneeee. This is going to be the new "top-knot", mark our words. Needless to say, we are loving this one from YouTuber @cobreezyslays.
2. Ballerina-Shaped Nails
In 2016, Mariana penned a passionate rant about almond-shaped nails and Brianna talked about coffin-shaped nails, which is another term for "ballerina nails", evidently. But we have a hunch that this chic and sophisticated nail shape will be front and center in many, many editorials, posts and pictures this year. And what better snap to source inspiration from than this glittering example from @emilyjnails?
3. Under-Waterline Eye Accents
Hyper-long, dramatic lashes and gorgeous lid decor get a LOT of attention when it comes to eye makeup. The downside of this is that there is that the under-eye area is often left unadorned or underutilized. But that stops now.
To perfect this, take cues from GlamByMikey/Michael O'Connell and incorporate a peek of color below your waterline. The end-result doesn't have to be super severe or striking (though this particular beauty guru excels on this end of the spectrum too); a little pop of color will do just fine, adding dimension and depth to any makeup look.
