Our Dream Makeup Look: Halloween Edition
Halloween is just days away and it's probably pretty clear that we are thoroughly bewitched by this upcoming holiday (hence our many, many celebratory posts). So, in a continuing effort to mix our love of Halloween with our love of makeup, here are some of the lovelierie team's "someday" costume ideas.
I recently moved internationally to a country where Halloween is "just starting to catch on", which is somehow even more depressing than it sounds. Nonetheless, my dream Halloween makeup look would probably be something horrifically gory (à la @grinanddagger, who we actually interviewed a few months ago). Maybe a variation of this look from @palomamoraismakeup? I'd add in some glitter and flowers though, because I find that dainty details make these types of looks so much creepier.
This is purely a delusional idea though, because I have neither the patience, nor the skill set to create a mind-boggling end result. I would also almost certainly end up scaring the sh*t out of myself every time I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and that it the type of nonsense I have learned to simply avoid.
"Okay, I might get super nerdy here but hear me out. There used to be this show on the SyFy channel called Defiance (which has now been cancelled, unfortunately) and it was about a bunch of different alien races and their invasion of Earth. My favourite kind of aliens were called Castithan and they were basically these ethereal, pale, white-haired beings who also always wore white. Pretty simple to pull off, but eye-catching nonetheless. Now, hand me the face paint!"
"I have always wanted to do a DIY masquerade mask using makeup. I have a super round face, so actual masks never stay on comfortably and I always end up taking them off halfway through Halloween celebrations and then losing track of them.
Doing it with makeup seems like it would be an ultra-stunning way of making a customized mask to match my costume, even if it is admittedly a time-consuming process. Here is a gorgeous example of masquerade makeup from @jemmatomkinsmua on Instagram. Really, could this be any prettier?!"
