Put To The Test: bareMinerals' Locked & Coated™ Waterproof Lash Topcoat
Allergy season is upon us, which incidentally sparked a conversation about a crazy cool product that my coworker has been using, which prompted me to try out said product.
Fast forward to this moment and I am now a die-hard evangelist for this makeup-saving beauty buy.
I’ve been constantly crying away all of my mascara throughout the day, because my archnemesis— pollen —has returned for the season. The amazing and lifesaving product that my coworker recommended? bareMinerals' Locked & Coated Waterproof Lash Topcoat.
Priced at just $12, this claims to make any mascara waterproof.
My current holy-grail mascara is Sephora's Outrageous Curl – Dramatic Volume And Curve Mascara.
It’s only $12, keeps my stick-straight lashes curled, gives great volume and—unfortunately—starts to run at any sign of moisture. This made it the perfect test subject for the Locked & Coated topcoat.
I put the topcoat over my mascara at the beginning of the day and decided to see just how waterproof it really was. After exercising, a full day of watery eyes and a light spritzing of Yes To Carrots' Yes To Grapefruits' Pore Perfection Toning Mist throughout the day, my mascara held up perfectly.
Now, the real test was during the evening when I stuck my face under the shower’s hot water for about 30 seconds. The results? Unfortunately, it seems that hot steamy water took off my mascara instantly and I was left with some very intense and unflattering set of panda eyes.
After trying out the Locked & Coated topcoat, I found that it was definitely worth the buy for what I needed it to do.
Will this topcoat allow you to go swimming while wearing any old mascara? Probably not. Will it turn your mascara into a long wearing, sweat-proof, tear resistant formula? Absolutely.
So this summer, feel free to wear any mascara while working out, tearing up and around all of those epic music festivals; the bareMinerals Locked & Coated has both you and your mascara covered.
I'll be back with more reviews in a bit. In the meantime, let's chat on Twitter.
