Put To The Test: JoJo Butter Lip Balm
I recently had the opportunity to try out a few lip balms from JoJo Butter, which is a company dedicated to creating handmade, all-natural, lip balms.
Now, I LOVE to use beauty products that are all-natural on the daily. An ingredient list that I can pronounce? Yes, please. However, I have two conditions that must be met by all of my products, all-natural or otherwise.
1). I have pretty high standards when it comes to beauty products and I expect my beauty products to work as intended.
2). The beauty products that I use on a daily basis have to be somewhat affordable.
This made JoJo Butter’s all-natural lip balm line, priced at only $2.99 each, a no-brainer for me to test out. Here are the my thoughts on the two balms I tested out.
Ingredients: Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Yellow Beeswax, Pure Vanilla Beans, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Vitamin E
I’m a vanilla lover and I’m immediately drawn to anything that smells or tastes like vanilla. After reading the description of the Perfectly Crafted lip balm, I was prepared to be obsessed. Unfortunately, my excitement was a bit short-lived as I did not find that this particular flavor/scent was strong enough for my personal taste. There is definitely vanilla beans running throughout this lip balm, which you can actually see running throughout the balm—how cool is that?!—it’s just is a very faint scent.
HOWEVER, the product itself is lovely and luxurious feeling. I find that this lip balm, unlike a lot of my other lip balms, can still be felt on my lips 20+ minutes after application. Usually my lip balm has worn off by then and so has all the hydration-y goodness. Not with this lip balm.
Ingredients: 100% Raw Shea Butter, Extra Virgin Coconut oil, Organic yellow beeswax, Pure Almond oil, Peppermint and Spearmint Essential Oils
Now, Pepp Talk is…amazing. Just like Perfectly Crafted, it is super moisturizing and lasted on my lips for quite some time after application. But, while I was left a bit disappointed by the vanilla flavor of the other balm, this lip balm really excelled and packs an awesome minty-fresh punch!
Now, it’s no substitute for brushing your teeth, but if you have some mild coffee-breath going on, this lip balm is a life saver.
My Pepp Talk lip balm currently lives in my purse to keep my breath a bit fresher and also as a traveling mini aromatherapy session in a tube. I’ve had a few too many nights with not enough sleep lately, but putting this lip balm on my lips and taking a deep breath has definitely made me feel more awake and energized. "Pepp Talk", indeed!
Overall, I would definitely recommend JoJo Butter if you’re looking for an affordable, all-natural, daily lip balm. I’m looking into the Mudslide (mmm…chocolate) and Stimulation (with cinnamon & vanilla) lip balms to try out. At $2.99, why would I not?
