Six Days In A Stranger's Shower

Six Days In A Stranger's Shower

One of the perks of my job is being able to shower in other people’s homes to try out their bath products.

Before you jump to conclusions, I should mention that I work as a pet-sitter for clients in and around my suburban neighborhood.

Because my job often requires that I stay overnight to watch a family’s four-legged friends, I have been able to try out many bath products and even pick up a few new favorites while staying at a house for work.

Recently, I booked a longer-term pet-sitting job in my area while my client was on a two-week-long business trip. She gave me free reign of her shower products and I was excited to be able to try out new products without committing to a full-size bottle at the drugstore.

So, I’m bringing you along into this stranger’s shower to review the new products I was able to try this past week. This way you can reap the benefits of my job without all of the stress of caring for a tiny, beloved Yorkie with allergies and an herbal regime.

Come along with me as I spend six days in a stranger’s shower.

The first product I was able to try out was Renpure's Coconut Milk Nourishing Conditioner.

This product runs for just under ten bucks on Amazon and ended up being one of my favorite finds of the week. I have a combination scalp that ranges from dandruff to oily on a daily basis, so I am familiar with the struggles of both dry-haired and oil-scalped beauty lovers out there. This product smelled amazing and had a thick consistency that was easy to work through my hair. The pump was convenient and the next day my hair felt shiny, soft and manageable without being too dry or slick. I ended up re-using this shampoo later on during my stay because of how well it controlled my frizzy texture.

After I got out of the shower, I reached for the Alba Botanica Hawaiian 3-in-1 Clean Towelettes with pineapple enzyme to remove my makeup.

I ended up trying this product repeatedly over the course of several days but just couldn’t stand behind it. The scent of the product was entirely unappealing to me. It smelled to me like an older, overripe pineapple that someone had mixed with hand sanitizer. Not the greatest.

Honestly, the scent may be pleasant to some, but it led me to really dislike the wipes, regardless of the fact that they did a fine job at removing my makeup.

While I didn’t love their cleansing towelettes, the Alba Botanica Conditioner in Mango Body Builder hit it out of the park for me!

The volumizing properties in this natural shampoo were very effective! The day after I used this product, my ponytail actually felt thicker and more voluminous. Scent-wise, this got an enthusiastic thumbs up from me; it was fruity and light.

I also have to mention that the consistency of the conditioner was easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this product to people seeking volume, especially those of you who are on the lookout for tropically-fragranced options.

The only other product the woman had in her shower was Bed Head's Colour Goddess Oil Infused Shampoo.

This product is designed for color-treated hair to preserve color and shine. My hair was colored several months ago, but I don’t regularly use color-specific hair products because my color has pretty much all faded away by now.

This product had a pleasant scent and consistency, but left my hair feeling extremely frizzy and unmanageable the next day. Needless to say, I can’t recommend this product because it didn’t leave my hair feeling beautiful.

I have to admit that the final product I’d like to review wasn’t found in my client’s beauty cabinet. I completely forgot to bring an exfoliant or face wash to the client’s home, so I went out and bought St. Ives'  Nourished & Smooth Oatmeal Body Scrub.

I totally feel in love with this product, which was less than 4 dollars at my local Walmart grocery store. The formula left my skin feelings softer, smoother and hydrated without leaving my face oily or irritated. The exfoliants are extremely gentle and I loved the duality of the product. I could use it as a wash when I needed a quick fix or as a mask if I wanted to pamper my skin. You can’t beat this product for the price or the quality!

...

As I packed up my things to leave, I double-checked the bathroom once more to ensure I hadn’t forgotten anything. I peeked into the shower one last time, and realized how lucky I was to be able to try out some amazing new beauty products.

I will definitely be repurchasing my St. Ives face wash/mask and may even order a bottle of the Renpure shampoo or Alba Botanica conditioner. I hope you’ve enjoyed coming along with me into this stranger’s shower!
