#TestedWithLove: The Neutrogena Light Therapy Mask
This mask is filled with a ton of red-y pink and blue dot lights that are used to help improve skin and breakouts. Even with my high hopes and initial excitement about this product, I wouldn’t really recommend it after testing it out and here’s why…
1. You Have To Buy A New Remote Every 30 Uses
When you pick up the light mask it comes with a white remote that has a set “30 uses” and a countdown display to tell you what use you’re on. Once you get to 30 uses, that’s it, the product is basically useless unless you buy another remote. I don’t know about you, but I’m not willing to go to the store and pay $15 every 30 uses. It seems a little unnecessary.
2. My Poor Eyes!
Now, I read through the entire instruction pamphlet before using this product, so I’m certain I had it on correctly. Still, I think that this light mask cannot be good for your eyes based on my experience, even with the built-in sunglasses.
After 10 minutes of having these red lights near my face I was left with tired and yellow-y vision until my eyes adjusted back to normal lighting. Not sure about the science of this, but I didn’t like the lights being so bright next to my eyes. It was like staring at the sun for a little too long and it was actually worse if I closed my eyes while I had the mask on. After the novelty wore off 10 uses deep, I was totally over having to wear this everyday.
3. Looking Like A Total Psycho
This is a product that you’ll want to use in a room alone with the door closed and pray no one rings your doorbell during the 10 minutes you have to don it, because you will look absolutely insane. We’re talking straight-up serial-killer-that-is-also-obsessed-with-lights-levels-of-nuts.
If someone does happen to come to your door, there’s no way to pause the mask and it counts as a use on the countdown timer even if you need to take it off. SO lame.
I did see some improvement in my skin using this product and if you’re going through some serious skin issues you might find using this product worth it. But, as someone with mild breakouts and whiteheads. I did not think this mask was worth it at all. It was cool at first, but then it just became a hassle. Stick with regular face masks and lotions.
