#ThrowbackBeauty: Nostalgia-Evoking Products That I Am Still Pretty Into
A lot of people find themselves obsessing over the new “it” thing and in-the-moment beauty trends. But, sometimes it's really fun to take a look at some beauty trends from the past to get inspiration and remember where your love for beauty really began!
Here’s a little sneak peak at my beauty past.
1. Lip Smackers
Before my obsession with Lip Tars, Everlasting Liquid Lipstick and Lush Fruit Lip Gloss began, I was obsessed—and I do mean OBSESSED—with everything popping out of Lip Smacker land. Not only are they super moisturizing and easy to just throw on, they also come in like a million amazing flavors. Root Beer, Coca-Cola and Skittles, you name it and it’s probably a Lip Smackers flavor. My favorite flavors they ever had were the Starburst Lip Smackers.
I wore these allllll day every day and probably ingested more of these than would be medically advised.
2. Kool-Aid Makeup (And Other Creations)
I don’t know if anyone else did this or if it was just me, but Kool-Aid infused DIY beauty products were something that I was fascinated with. Lip stains, cheek stains and DIY hair dye were all fun beauty science experiments to do with Kool-Aid back in the day. So I was experimenting with DIY beauty long before I tried my hand at DIY oil slick hair, basically.
3. Cool-Toned Everything
I feel like in the early 2000’s it was all about cool tones and I loved it. Silvers, blues and baby pinks are all things that I absolutely loved. Now don’t get me wrong, I adore a good swipe of sunkissed bronzer-y goodness and golds, but sometimes I wish that we could show the cool tones more love! A little silver lipstick never hurt anybody.
4. Fun Hair-Dos Without Loose Braids
Now I think all of those loose elaborate Instagram braids are beautiful, but I would love to get back into some weird Lizzie McGuire-esque hair ASAP. Hair clips, sections of crimped hair, random ponytails and/or buns shooting out of places, bring it back please! There are only so many pancaked side braids a girl can like on Instagram in a day.
