Trend To Try: Script Eyeliner

Trend To Try: Script Eyeliner

There is a new beauty trend for summer this year and it is a craft above what everyone can do; cool-script like liner. While you can try your hand at doodling this yourself, I'd recommend simply picking up a temporary tattoo (à la Tattoo You's Heartless Tattoos).

Want to see how this looks "on"? Take a peek at this snap from the insanely talented Gina Frey.

Here's how to follow in her fabulous footsteps once you have your temporary tattoo in hand.

Step One:

Create a clean, matte base. Whether applying to your eyelids or face, it’s important to make sure that you have a naturally dry skin so that the tattoos don't end up slipping and sliding all over the place.

When it comes to eyes specifically, a liquid base might be best. Steer clear of powder; this will do you no favors when it comes to getting the tattoo to stick. Oh and don't forget to prime your lids beforehand.

Step Two:

You ready to get this show on the road? Great. Go ahead and cut around the temporary tattoo design, getting as close to the lettering as possible. I recommend using sewing or eyebrow scissors once you remove the bulk of the excess paper. It just makes things a little easier.

You're in the home stretch now...put the tattoo onto your skin.

Step Three:

Take a water-soaked cotton swab and use this to press on your temporary tattoo, working from one side to the other. Allow this to sit for a bit so as to avoid wrinkling or a messy mishap. Then, slowly and carefully peel the paper away.

You might want to apply a spritz or two of setting spray too. Just allow this to dry before you go crazy with the blinks.

Give it a shot and then come show me on Instagram and Twitter.
